Hi. I'm Marianne. I like baking. Wait, this is in understatement. I love baking. There is nothing more than baking that makes me incredible happy and puts me in a good mood. Many recipes on this blog are inspired by my Swedish and German roots. I grew up with Swedish cakes and all different kinds of Swedish (sweet yeast) breads. Kanelbullar - Swedish cinnamon buns - are one of my all-time favorite food to eat and to bake. The smell of freshly baked kanelbullar - the smell of cinnamon and cardamon - makes me comforting and it is where I feel home.
I have always liked baking. When I was little I was watching my mom making cakes on Saturdays and Sundays. As I was getting older and were able to read I started to borrow baking books for children from the library and tought myself how to bake (and learnt from my mistakes along the way and documented everything in little notebooks). For my 11th birthday I received my very first adult baking book by my parents. As you might imagine I felt very grown up and this was also the beginning of making torten and introducing German cakes and cookies to my family (even though I grow up in Germany Swedish cuisine was much more present than German cuisine in my family).
Besides baking I like writing, photographing, my black Dutch bicycle which I take out for a ride almost every single day, nature, quietness, considerate human beings, cities, books, Hammershøi, tea, handwritten notes and recipes.

Swedish Gingersnap Christmas Cookies (It is an old family recipe.)
Swedish Tekakor (Delicious little Swedish breads.)
